食用アサリやハマグリを食べるときのように砂をはかせただけでは食べにくい。
ゆでてからざるに入れて強い水流で砂粒を洗い落すと、なかなかおいしい。
また、引きのばして干物にし、「姫貝」などといって売っている。
縄文時代の貝塚から多量に出土するので、先史人は意外と好んでいたようである。		EdibleIt is not so easy to let sand out of the shells as clams.
